This ex-child star left Hollywood for motherhood and is now a 60-year-old mom of six and proud grandmother
The idea of a witch marrying a regular man and wanting to live a normal housewife’s life is exactly what the classic TV show Bewitched (1964–1972) is about. The role of their magical daughter, Tabitha, was originally shared by fraternal twins Erin and Diane Murphy, born on June 17, 1964, in Encino, California.
Because they looked alike as children, both girls played Tabitha in early seasons. Eventually, Erin took over the role full-time in season four as their appearances grew different. Erin loved being on set and had close relationships with cast members like Elizabeth Montgomery (Samantha) and Agnes Moorehead (Endora), whom she considered a grandmother figure.
Erin left acting at 13 to live a more normal life. She has six sons from three marriages and is now a TV host, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur. She owns Erin Murphy Knits and Slim Chillers, which makes frozen vodka martinis.

Though she doesn’t watch the show much with her grandchildren, Erin is proud to be remembered as Tabitha. On the show’s 60th anniversary, she posted, “Want to feel old? ‘Bewitched’ premiered 60 years ago—and little Tabitha is now 60!”

Diane, her twin, now lives in Santa Barbara and works in clinical development and medical writing. She’s also active in nonprofit work supporting women and LGBTQ+ students. Both sisters look back on Bewitched as a special part of their lives, and the role of Tabitha remains iconic to fans across generations.
