uaid has opened up about the emotional toll the recent catastrophic floods in Texas had on him and his family. In a July 11, 2025 interview with Fox News Digital, Quaid shared how he spent a sleepless night fearing for the safety of his 17-year-old daughter, Zoe Quaid, who was working as a counselor at Camp Longhorn, about 75 miles from the hardest-hit areas near Kerrville.
“I tried calling her that night, but couldn’t reach her until the next day,” Quaid said. “I didn’t get much sleep.” Though the camp remained physically unaffected, the emotional impact was real. One of Zoe’s fellow campers lost her entire family when their RV was swept away by floodwaters near the Guadalupe River.
The tragedy didn’t stop there. Quaid’s close friends, Clark and Tavia Hunt—owners of the Kansas City Chiefs—also suffered devastating loss. Their 9-year-old relative, Janie Hunt, died in the flood at nearby Camp Mystic. Tavia shared her heartbreak on Instagram, expressing how hard it was to understand such suffering, especially the loss of children, and leaned on her faith for strength.
Quaid urged compassion for the victims and called for support of the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. He reflected on the resilience of the campers who endured the traumatic night, adding that the emotional wounds will last far longer than the floodwaters.
Zoe later shared cheerful summer photos with friends by the lake, a reminder that life continues even amid tragedy. Still, Quaid’s experience served as a powerful reminder of how quickly disaster can strike, and how deeply it can affect even those watching from a distance.
