Russia respond to Donald Trump saying he threatened to ‘bomb Moscow’
Trump Says He Threatened to Bomb Moscow — Russia Responds. Donald Trump’s attitude toward Russia appears to have shifted. Although he previously described having a good relationship with Vladimir Putin and claimed he could end the Ukraine war in just 24 hours, a leaked audio tape obtained by CNN paints a different picture.
In a 2024 fundraiser meeting with donors, Trump reportedly said that he had warned Putin directly: “If you go into Ukraine, I’m going to bomb the sht out of Moscow.”* He claimed Putin didn’t believe him fully but admitted, “He believed me 10%.” Trump also said he gave a similar warning to Chinese President Xi Jinping about Taiwan, threatening to bomb Beijing if China launched an invasion.
He added, “He thought I was crazy… but we never had a problem.” Although Trump hasn’t publicly confirmed or denied the comments, the audio suggests a more aggressive stance behind closed doors than his previous public tone.
The Kremlin responded quickly. Russian government spokesperson Dmitry Peskov neither confirmed nor denied Trump’s claim. He emphasized that no phone calls took place between Trump and Putin during the time when Trump was out of office. “Whether this is fake or not, we do not know,” Peskov said, adding that today there are often more fake reports than real ones.
While it’s unclear when or where the alleged threats were made, the audio has reignited debate about Trump’s foreign policy style — often unpredictable, but aimed at projecting strength.
