10-Year-Old Baseball Star Dies Suddenly After Championship Game

A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the community of Linglestown, Pennsylvania, as 10-year-old Bryson Funk passed away suddenly just one day after celebrating a major victory with his baseball team. Bryson, a beloved pitcher for the Linglestown Colts, had played in his team’s championship game and helped lead them to victory. The young athlete, full of life and passion for the sport, tragically died on June 12 following a sudden cardiac arrest.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by a family member, the cause of Bryson’s cardiac arrest was myocarditis—a serious and sometimes life-threatening condition involving inflammation of the heart muscle. Myocarditis can weaken the heart, reducing its ability to pump blood efficiently, and may lead to severe complications such as arrhythmias, heart failure, stroke, or even sudden death, especially in young athletes.
